Presentation Skills: Use Your Own Photos
Posted by aokimi on June 12, 2008
I want to thank Greg Hluska, who writes an excellent blog about surveillance and security cameras at http://gtcctv.wordpress.com. Greg read my post on “3 Quick Power Point Tips” and added some great comments I want to share with you. Here are Greg’s thoughts:
“I’m aware that not all people have time to do this, but when I use images in Powerpoint presentations (very, very rarely), I only use photos that I have taken myself. I’m by no means some expert level photographer, but I have had great success with my own photos. When you’re doing a presentation, you aren’t so much selling your ideas as you’re selling yourself. And, I find that using photos that I have taken is just one extra little way to sell myself. It speaks to passion, it speaks to interest, and it speaks to dedication. Moreover, you would be surprised by how many people comment upon my pictures after a presentation. Its a great way to start a conversation and it is a great way to ensure that people at least remember who I am. In a global economy, making sales is less about your product and more about how relevant you can make yourself to your clients.”
What an excellent idea! With the prevalence of digital cameras, it’s easy to add photos to your Power Point deck. Greg also had two additional presentation skill tips. You can read them here under the “Comments” section of my “3 Quick Power Point Tips” blog entry.
